Chapter: Story 11: I Dream of an Escape
Characters: Kazom
Well, well, an old familiar face. Though he may look a bit different than you might expect, if you haven’t read The Melvin Chronicles.
Ok, so we have Kazon’s melvin chronicles artstyle mixed together with Jeanie Bottles…
I have to say, the contrast between the two makes it hard to look at. ^^;;
Yeah, I swear it looks like Bach-man himself drew Kazom there. If that’s CD’s doing it’s obvious that he’s got talent drawing out of his “Safety Box”.
Well, Kazom finally made his way to the meeting of the Genie Lords and with Haji. But, it doesn’t look like they want him around. Oh, well.
Oh, I just had a thought, Jeanie running around looking the place over. So she will probably run into Kazon in her trek around Haji Palace and/or find this meeting place too.
that reminds me, when will The Melvin Chronicles come back to life?
When they find someone to draw it.
The Return of Kazom!
(I always want to cuddle him and scratch him behind the ears.)
I know, right? He’s like a scary plushie.
Do you have Kazom plushies, that sounds like they would be a magical gift.
CD might still have some of the Teri plushies that had had made a few years back. I haven’t heard anything about Kazom plushies, though.
And the old line of the western movies is “I will be waiting.”
I wonder why there’s such dislike between genies and witches… A magical supremacy conflict?
An intriguing question! I wonder if we’ll find out. (I legit don’t know)
It’s like the rivalry between any two power groups – they see each other as competition.
The original blue genie fight, as I recall, involved an alliance between witches and genies. Kinda thinking one side or the other feels betrayed in the aftermath.
Also, by some traditions, witches gain their powers by calling on supernatural entities. Genies are themselves supernaturals, and may indeed feel themselves superior.
Ahh, so like the Styrics and Delphaes?
“Styrics and Delphaes?”
Gonna have to take your word for it, since I haven’t read Eddings.
Considering what I learned about him this year, you haven’t missed much.
I think we were talking about pre-establishing security measures before being attacked, yes?
Check out today’s xkcd : /1934/
Gotta be the one to bring it up: “Nothing more THAN”.
Oh shoot, you’re right. Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll fix it immediately.
Jeanie walking around the palace bumps into Kasom. They have to team up to save the world. Maybe bring in Melvin and Holly. If she can materialize a war mallet of of her night shirt she has powers she doesn’t know about.t
I just don’t think they’ll come crying to anybody after the Blue Djinn kills them.
Maybe genies leave ghosts behind when they die?
Technically they are spirits which is the equivalent of ghosts so “die” would be more like destroyed unless rendered mortal is my guess.
Didn’t they just have ceremony for the purpose of mating Male and Female Genie for the purpose of re-birthing Genie that have already passed on? Didn’t the elder Female Genie take both Jeanie and the other young Genie into the room where they kept those spirits? They looked kind of like a blue burning flame. If that the case, then when a Genie dies, they go back into the vault and end up on the shelf waiting to be re-selected and then re-birthed to a new Genie couple wanting to have children. I may be wrong here, but, that does seam to be what they been saying over the last couple of week and why they want a Male and Female Genie to procreate a baby Genie.
We saw before Jean had unintentionally got “her” genie body hi-jacked from using her magic by an illegal use of it, casting “herself” out of “her” body as a type of spirit/ghost as result. It seems possible for genies to become ghosts and able to still communicate with the living magical beings.
This is a reference to what parents of skateboarders say:
“If you break your leg, don’t come running to me.”
How did Kazom get into Haji’s Palace, anyway? I thought it was supposed to be on lockdown. Then again, why is Jean being allowed to wander around loose.
That is, if she is allowed. She may not be able to leave the palace, but she did use her powers to change back into her regular genie costume (and why did she do that instead of changing into what she really wears most of the time? Probably for the same reason she changed her costume from white back to pink at the end of I Dream of a General; she’s become subconsciously attached to it.
Well, since everyone else is in a genie costume, it’s common sense to blend in. Wait, this is Jean. Common sense? What was I thinking?
Storywise, Kazom is here now so Jean can meet him, or at least overhear his argument with the guard. I’m assuming the guard is guarding the door to the room where the genie lords are gathered. Or supposed to be gathered. Unless they’re already dead. Nah, Guano will survive. Kind of like a genie cockroach.
I don’t suppose Kazom would think of reminding Jean that he changed Red into a girl and never changed him back.
I also would like Kazom to set Araceli straight about what her Uncle Bat Poop did, which was somehow to take credit for defeating the Blue Djinn when it was really Kazom and Melvin’s dad. Perhaps Jean knows something about that from her little time-travel adventure in I Dream of Technicolor?
I’m betting Kazom knows the back ways in that the guards are not aware of.
