I like Andy, he seam to be a nice guy. But, he like any guy, some times he forget to remember some one that important to him. At least until he loses her and then it too late.
It may be a little different with genies. After all, she’s bound to serve him. It’s not like she can get pissed one day, and announce that she’s moving back into her mother’s bottle.
Maybe, maybe not a genie is bound to serve for 3 wishes (which he may or may not have used by this stage) they can choose to remain with a master for love at a cost of some of their power. Its possible if they choose to remain they can also choose to leave so long as they have granted those 3 wishes.
The continuing absence of Jean and Neil after one appearance in 1969 and the revelation that Andy is looking at the proposal for what will become the Space Shuttle program (historical, BTW) brought to my mind the possibility of changing history, or an attempt to. Neil is an engineer working on the space program of a half-century later, and knows about how badly the space shuttle program will turn out if allowed to go ahead as it did. Who’s going to be the voice of caution here, Jean?
They had other shuttle designs that they could have used. But, those other shuttle designs that they had in mind would have cost more to design and build, but, would have had cheaper operating cost had they chosen to have done that. But, the choose to save money now and end up with something that cost more to operate and maintain after it was built.
So they ended up with something that nobody wanted and have the benefit of decreasing the price to get into orbit. They basically had a truck that nobody wanted and didn’t have a use for until they decided to build the International Space Station.
Actually it was always more expensive to use the shuttle to put payloads into orbit. If the Saturn had stayed in production, costs would have come down over the length of the production run, and we would have had a heavier lift capacity. The cost analysis assumed turnarounds of two weeks or less. But it was rare for more than three or four missions to be mounted in a year.
Maybe the worst decision was the solid rocket boosters. Because they were made in Utah, they had to be rail transported in sections–that’s why the infamous O-rings were needed. Pork-barrel engineering.
And I have another plot theory: Why Guano is so particularly harsh on Jean.
Guano knew Rouyaa. He knows that Jean is using her vacated bottle and is even using her old costume. If Rouyaa is dead, Guano might resent Jean for demeaning her memory. Or Guano might feel extra-responsible for getting the inheritor of Rouyaa’s legacy up to the standards of the originals, or maybe making sure Jean doesn’t repeat the mistakes Rouyaa and her sister made.
Maybe not so much as a hero as a guy who isn’t as bad as we thought. If you’re following The Melvin Chronicles today’s update has Kazom painting him as Darth Vader. But he’s more of a nerd Anakin in 1969.
Guano’s problem is that he jumps to conclusions and then refuses to let anybody correct him, such as when he mistook Natelie/Neil for Jean and immediately applied Jean’s punishment to her even though he presumably had plenty of ways of verifying whether the person in front of him was a Genie or a Human.
Yeah, I saw that Guano naming in Melvin. I hope they talked that over pretty well, because that twist would have a ton of impact on both series.
Like, how he is now a genie lord and Kazom is now a cat. Not to mention how this did not come across in Kazom’s earlier descriptions of Guano. He did not seem to like him, but it did not seem like he was thinking of him as a traitor or anything. More of an annoyance than anything.
And that would mean this comic would get a more serious tone, and possibly a darker one as well.
I have a feeling that Andy’s desire for visitors is going to be accommodated in an unexpected way, when a time-traveling blonde genie and her nerdy pal show up…
It going to get real interesting, because now we will have two Genie’s bound to a single totem or Genie Bottle. We can’t have the two Genie meeting each other. Holly paradox Batman, which Genie going to get to claim the Genie Bottle or Totem. Or to put in terms of Dr. Emit Brown of back to the Future. This could be a major catastrophe that could wipe out the entire Universe, but, that the worst case scenario. But, it could be just a local wipe milky-way Galaxy.
A rhetorical question on the matter, Andy? Guess he either respects Rouyaa’s privacy or fears getting messy in red tape with Genie politics.

Ah, already working on preliminary proposals for the Shuttle, I see.
And now she dies because she brought him a coffee which helps him work on the budget for the space-program

So Lord Guano is the hero in this epic?

How will this all play out?
Y’know, you could make new friends…
True, there is the book Necromancy Fro Dummies.

spin the bottle where it will go? Nobody know!
