Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Has Jean done anything half as evil as plotting to get someone sealed in a bottle for all eternity? And eternity would be eternity. Jeanie wouldn’t even have a way to die. She couldn’t even use magic in the bottle to die of magic overuse. Araceli is a complete monster.
-Jeanie has forever change the life of Red. Sure a lot of people that read these comics think getting changed into a girl is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But He probably feels like a Trans person in the wrong body now.
-Neil has been transformed into a woman and sent to a strip club, then forced to date his coworker, then sent half naked to the lobby of his friends building with no money or ID because Jeanie was having a hissyfit. Also Jean wished his curse was on Neil instead of her. Jean is a total douche bag. Jean also messed with Richard dean Anderson not cool not cool.
Jean isn’t a good person. That’s blatantly obvious.
But Araceli is downright evil. No amount of shenanigans from Jean makes up for Araceli’s stated goal of permanently imprisoning Jean in solitary confinement for all eternity! Especially since her motivation to do this is simple, cold-hearted envy.
Except she wouldn’t be laughing her head off at the prospect. And Areceli has ironically been showing that she’s learning empathy from one little master, while Jean has turned a blind eye to any lesson on the subject.
She wanted out of her bottle because it was stuck at the bottom of the ocean. Switching bottles was a means to a end. If you were trapped in a room for years and had a chance to get out would you not take it?
I’ve been thinking about that. There probably was a reason someone tossed Araceli’s bottle into the ocean. She may have been a troublemaker from way back . . .
I don’t see this as Araceli being insensitive. She’s probably been a bottle genie all her life, and the possibility of being bottled up for a long time is Just The Way Life Is. She has no reason to fear it or resent it because it’s the only thing she’s ever known. Thus she has no basis for understanding Jeanie’s fear of her bottle.
Jean(ie) on the other hand went from a free-willed human to basically a servant with a gazillion unfathomable rules and a tiny little living space.
The thing about that Makaira is laying aside all the thing’s Araceli has done you just need to look at what’s happening in this strip. After finding out a bottle genie is scared of her own bottle her reaction is not “why?” but “Hahahahaha” and waving the bottle at her. She’s not asking for reasons, she’s not trying to help, she’s getting entertainment out of scaring another genie with an object that’s supposed to be a home.
Then if you consider all the other stuff she has done (not trying to help the genie trapped in her old bottle after realizing they didn’t know what trading bottles meant, trying to steal her master, trying to pretend to be her, making a deal with her uncle so that when the new genie fails at her training she gets her master and the new genies sealed away forever, taunting the new genie and still trying to steal the master said genie gave up part of her power to stay with). Araceli really is showing her true colours in scaring the new genie with the bottle she’s told her she’s going to try and trap her in forever for her own entertainment.
Jeanie has always been shortsighted and not really aware of the consequences of her actions but Araceli on the other hand IS aware of all the rules and what she’s doing but she’s doing it anyway just because she wants something an inexperienced genie has.
I was so sure Neil had done a stinker there, especially when I saw Araceli’s expression. I think that would have been so much funnier with Araceli begging Jean to enter the bottle to avoid changing Neil.
Blue probably doesn’t understand why the safest place for a genie, would be a place she fears the most.
She does not understand Jeanie is a stranger in a strange land. Blue has been a genie for a long time so it is natural for her.
Natural or not she should have a pretty good idea of why the new genie is scared of what’s supposed to be a safe place considering she’s not only threatened to do everything she can to ensure the new genie is sealed away in said home for all eternity and then trapped her in there for awhile so she could see what it’d be like. Even laying aside that look at her reaction to finding this out its not confusion or trying to understand why its using it to scare another genie for her own entertainement.
Yeah – I never liked Aracelli either – she’s kind of the villain in this comic, if there are any villains in this light-hearted comedy. She’s definitely a rival, and an unlikeable one.
I’d say he’d be the overall villain of this comic if there was one. Aracelli is more the direct villain the one who shows up the most…I’d compare it to the Emperor and Darth Vader in Star Wars. Aracelli would be filling the role of Darth Vader, IE, the more direct villain that the heroes deal with on a daily basis, while Guano would be the Emperor and a more indirect villain in that while the bigger threat and the bigger, badder villain, doesn’t really show up all that much or get directly involved very often.
Gee, don’t you hate someone that will take advantage of situation and have ulterior motives all over the place, but then you have a choice of continuing in the situation your currently in or take there advice. Araceli is giving good advice as to how to stop the current problem, but, unfortunately for Jeanie, Araceli will take unfair advantage of Jeanie and Jeanie knows that.
So Jeanie reluctance to do a Araceli say that should do, while Araceli stand there with glee in her eye’s and toying with Jeanie.
Probably not the bottle Jean is afraid of, but the baby. After all, babies are evil and Jeannie doesn’t have the mother instinct because she’s not naturally a girl.
Doubtful. All that matters to Araceli is that Jean right now is an obstacle in the way of what she wants most. She hasn’t shown any care to learn more about Jean as a person, much less his past. Maybe multiple genies can’t be assigned to a single person (except in Kazom and Melvin’s case for training), hence why she’s probably wants to get Jean away from Neil for good. Jean won’t give up his only means of continuing his human life.
It’s not the bottle so much as what will happen to it with her helpless inside it.
If only she could hide it Aracelli…. Have someone she trusts take possession of it….
And I want to see the two of them get into an impromptu magic fight that will mass-change the adults of a whole city or state in a plethora of sexy and bizarre and TGish ways. 😀
hey CD, is the comic going to a point that jean and neil switch places and nail is the jeanie and jean is the master and jean will use nail as a slave because i would really like to see that
could you please answer these two questions too, firs if this would happen would neil look like natalie or female jean or something else second will this happen
If you look at the “Information” link at the top of the page, you’ll see lots of info that seems to imply that other genies will eventually show up. The other genie who’s been mentioned in the comic, but not yet seen, is Haji. He’s the master of all genies.
In Jonny Quest, his best friend was called Hadji, who was Indian. In Islam a man who went to Mecca, could then be called Hadji, which is actually a title.
That’s probably because you made her scared of her own bottle. Talk about insensitive.
Also, love Jean’s short hair here.
That was my exact initial response to this comic! Araceli is such an ass.
Considering that bottle stole away Jean’s life and turned him into a girl, I can understand why she’d hate it.
Not very fair considering WHY she’s scared of it (she’s the first actually villainous character in this series afterall)
Considering how Jean acts? Meh.
Has Jean done anything half as evil as plotting to get someone sealed in a bottle for all eternity? And eternity would be eternity. Jeanie wouldn’t even have a way to die. She couldn’t even use magic in the bottle to die of magic overuse. Araceli is a complete monster.
@Ephemera: PREACH IT Brotha’!
considering Jean has drastically and maliciously both intentionally and unintentionally changed Lived perhaps forever

Areceli was sealed in her bottle for a LOT LONGER than Jean ever was, and wasn’t scared to death of it afterwards. Thus why she’s laughing about it.
I call BS. If Araceli wasn’t scared of her own bottle, why did she plot to have Jeanie go in hers instead.
Except she wouldn’t be laughing her head off at the prospect. And Areceli has ironically been showing that she’s learning empathy from one little master, while Jean has turned a blind eye to any lesson on the subject.

If I recall correctly, her bottle was a with a shipwreck.
She didn’t plot to have Jeanie switch bottles. Jeanie unwittingly offered to trade.

Looks like more sleepless nights for Jean due to Araceli being there.
I was so sure Neil had done a stinker there, especially when I saw Araceli’s expression. I think that would have been so much funnier with Araceli begging Jean to enter the bottle to avoid changing Neil.
Short hair looks good on her.

i would agree except Blue does know why she did make very strong threat of having her sealed away so its just more of tormenting then teasing
I never liked Araceli – i like her less and less as i see her more and more.
Me too.
Of course, when you’re in your bottle, nobody is pestering you to grant their wishes.
Yeah – I never liked Aracelli either – she’s kind of the villain in this comic, if there are any villains in this light-hearted comedy. She’s definitely a rival, and an unlikeable one.
Thought Lord Guano was the villian

Is this when Araceli finally learns Jean was once human, and Neal’s male roommate, and thus no threat to her as a girlfriend?
When did Jeanie get a haircut?
All the poofs have been changing her outfit and hairstyle throughout the previous comics. It’ll change again in the next one, too.
Spoiler Alert: She gets way sexier in the next comic. IMO.
You had to do that. I normally wait with much anticipation for the upcoming comics and you go and make the wait far worse. 😛
Bwahahahahah! 😉
It’s not the bottle so much as what will happen to it with her helpless inside it.
If only she could hide it Aracelli…. Have someone she trusts take possession of it….
*hide it from*
She looks even more like Jeannie for IDOJ now. IDK, why these things keep happening to her. Hopefully we find out why very soon.
I really wanna see Araceli get her ass kicked
And I want to see Jean get her comeuppance.
And I want to see the two of them get into an impromptu magic fight that will mass-change the adults of a whole city or state in a plethora of sexy and bizarre and TGish ways. 😀
A bottle genie scared of her own bottle, well I have heard worse, like a mermaid afraid of water http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Silver
Interesting
Why do I get the feeling CD just got a rinkle of an idea. Also kudos for nearing 50 comments.
I wonder if Neil is still capable of cognitive thought in that baby form and thus capable of seeing what an insensitive bully Araceli’s being.
I hope so.
I’m afraid that all Neil may have in mind at the moment, from what he can see while looking up, is “feeding time!” 😀
Wouldn’t you in Neil’s position?
CD Rudd–Absolutely! I’m a breast man myself! 🙂
Shouldn’t the fear Jean’s feels when confronted with her bottle cure her hiccups?
Just a thought….
She doesn’t have the hiccups, though, she’s having a sneezing fit.
Okay, so it wasn’t a very good thought…. 🙁
hey CD, is the comic going to a point that jean and neil switch places and nail is the jeanie and jean is the master and jean will use nail as a slave because i would really like to see that
I won’t lie. I have toyed with that plot concept.
tanks for the answer and the awesome work
could you please answer these two questions too, firs if this would happen would neil look like natalie or female jean or something else second will this happen
Yo, CD. We’ve seen Guano, Kazom, and Araceli, but do you plan to introduce other genies as time goes on?
If you look at the “Information” link at the top of the page, you’ll see lots of info that seems to imply that other genies will eventually show up. The other genie who’s been mentioned in the comic, but not yet seen, is Haji. He’s the master of all genies.
