Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
“POOF!”? Just “POOF!”? What happened to the arms crossing and the “BAWOINGING!”? (like the Jeannie I dream of) Maybe that’s what got Lord Bat-dung hanging around! Seriously, I really like what you’re doing with this strip. It’s funny and creative, and keeps me wanting to know what’s next! Write on CD!!
Perhaps as Nelson was her true master at the time the wishes just happen, but after he freed her from any obligations and she just volunteered her services she had to make the wishes happen by the arm crossing thing. Just a guess. Maybe that’s why this Jeannie doesn’t have to do the arm crossing because Neil is still her master.
Hey Andrew, that works for me! Something interesting though; I was able to bring up a few episodes on YouTube today, and the human characters do not appear to hear the “BAWOINGING”, otherwise they would have expected something will happen, but didn’t. Also, Derick (above strip) asks, “A poof?” He didn’t hear it!
So, Jean thinks Sam is a genie spying on her for Lord Batpoop. Meanwhile, Roger’s cousin Caley is going to show up soon. And wouldn’t it be just super peachy keen if the package with Araceli’s bottle from Part 188 arrived real soon?
I’d like to speculate further on the forum, which I joined quite awhile ago, but I’m still in not allowed to start a thread or even post to one. Do I need my own genie to use it?
Yes, there’s a forum (I’m assuming you aren’t joking).
The Forum link the second choice of the menu at the top of the page just below the top logo, second choice after HOME. It’s part of the 910CMX Forums. I must have joined to comment on some other 910CMX comic I found so long ago I can’t remember it.
I think Jean doesn’t have a monopoly on paranoia. Sam seemed jittery about that “poof”. She probably thinks her mother is spying on her. Derrick and Neil need to go to a bar and lay low while their respective spell-casters vent their paranoia. 😉
I agree. Actually, I believe Sam could be really concerned. Her mother goes “*POOF”, but Jean goes “POOF” (note the asterisk). If it sounded like her mother, she wouldn’t be paranoid, just annoyed. What if they all go into hiding!
I stand corrected! I wouldn’t call myself a “real fan”. I watched the show as a kid, then caught most episodes on YouTube, until the copyright guys eliminated the full episodes. Just curious, did Jeannie ever initiate her own wish without the theatrics? This is open to anybody.
Neal could take a strand of Jeans hair for a DNA test. If the results show female XX chromosomes, instead of male XY chromosomes Jean might accept her femaleness.
Or amnesia from a bonk on the head, always thinks she was a girl.
Uh, whay exactly did Jean “POOF!” them? Couldn’t she have just ducked?
Wow Jean did something stupid instead of something smart and simple, that is so out of character for her.

Crossing the arms wasn’t a requirement from the beginning.
FIRST WISH: “Oh man, I wish I had the key.” [Key materializes immediately]
I don’t think it”s not even in the trope from IDOJ. As I remember it:
CAPTAIN NELSON: “I wish you could speak English.” [Jeannie switches instantly from Farsi to English.]
If you’re a real fan, you need to do your homework. A word of warning: Pop quizzes can be sprung at any time…

I also lived with a psychopathic nut job that made my life a living hell – I had a cat. 😉
Jean is more easily distracted though.
Are you saying that Jeanie has ADOS?
(Attention Defici… Oh Shiny!)
Was she distracted by something, or just replying to his comment?
I think she’s pretending she didn’t hear Neil clearly.
What’s that?
Could you repeat that, please?
same thing any girl says when you say something they don’t like.
What’s that!!!! (glare) “

I’ll see if CD can give me admin privileges, so I can approve your account.

This was a reply to Tom Sewell’s comment
Can I just say that I love the way you’re using the concept of those grand old sitcoms to create new stories? ^^
Glad you like them.
I must say I really enjoy this comic. Read through it from start to finish now.
I wonder if Jean still thinks he should look like a guy.
The redhead doesn’t seem to mind being a girl.
Well, she *does* get to be hot. I certainly wouldn’t mind!

That would work great for a storyline…Jean forgets she’s a guy, incorrectly believes that since she lives with Neil that they’re dating or something
Can’t wait for their first encounter!
