Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
I do think that is her only way out. I know some people have been suggesting that when (if) Neil figures things out, he will wish her back. To me, that seems like it would violate the rules. Wishing for genies is like wishing for wishes. I don’t think there is anything he can do to get that bottle with genie magic. CD seems to have the whole genie magic thing carefully thought out.
Anyway, Jeannie having to deal with a new master that isn’t her easily intimidated best friend while also plotting revenge on Aracelli (and possibly Neil) sounds like a fun plotline.
I still see a way out of the situation:
The bottle has buoyancy and is only blocked by the wreckage. If Jeannie manages to roll the bottle from under the wreckage, it will float to the surface and can be found. That is if Jeannie can figure out the situation.
More likely Jean will start with using magic to get him/herself out of there. If that fails, I see lots of swearing, while trying to break the bottle open by either magic or physically hitting. Thou the question is while anyone hear him, and who will be the threats to?
How long was Ari down there? And with all her skills as a genie, skills which Jeanie has little training for, she never found a way out?
Granted that the bottle is unsecured, and is merely floating against the ship’s rail, it’s possible that Jean will use non-magical methods, such physical attack against the walls, that Ari wouldn’t have tried, but over hundreds of years? Don’t think so.
I think she’s well and truly stuck, and will have to rely on Neal realizing that Ari’s not Jeanie, and wishing for a rescue.
On that front, it looks like the ship is not in terribly deep black water; there’s still some illumination. Neil could easily wish to be transported there in a diving suit to retrieve the bottle.
And I have to wonder, what else is in that open chest that he might recover in such an expedition?
I agree she won’t be able to get out by herself. The only chance for her to get out is that someone else grants it. However I don’t think Neil will be that one. I’m closer to the idea that it’ll be a genie, someone not involved in Araceli’s past but in Jeanie’s present. And I think that one is Guano, but not before submitting Jeanie to some kind of test to prove she deserves to be back next to Neil.
Now taking bets that Jean will somehow find a way out of this situation (probably by breaking a genie rule), whereas Araceli just waited to be found and/or summoned.
At least given Jean’s personality, she won’t give up. While this has proven destructive in how she’s trying to cheat fate rather than make the best of it, in this case it’ll help her.
Jean lived in the gun powder age, and has probably seen a certain Star Trek Episode. Jean would then know of the possibility of exploding the bottle, while the original owner wouldn’t be familiar with the technology and thus not try it.
And it doesn’t look like the one Jeanie is in now.
But looking at that page (CD Rudd, it’s quite hard to access to a comic page by its number, as a matter of fact, could that be improved somehow?) I noticed Araceli said there that only a genie master can take out a genie from her bottle without opening it, so that matches my theory that it’ll by Guano who will free Jeanie.
I still want to know why Jeannie was instantly poofed back to this bottle on changinh totems. If Aracelli was finished with her temp duties she should have gone as soon as Jeannie returned. If she wasn’t then Jeannie should have assumes those duties and thus remained when he accidently changed bottles. I’d also say that there’s not really a reason for there to be a rule against wishing for an unclaimed Jeannie bottle. We’ve already seen multiple examples of people with two jeannies on a temporary basis and Jeannie did choose to remain with the master he “loves” effectively giving Neal unlimited wishes.
Araceli wasn’t finished, Jeannie just believed what Kazom said without questioning it.
The mission isn’t enforced by magic as far as we can tell, just an order from Guano. In fact, as Kazom mentions using magic shortens a genie’s life so the odds are there was no magic holding Aracelli to Neil though we can assume some was used to get her out of the bottle.
Therefore there’s no magic to keep Jeanie from being poof’d into Aracelli’s bottle immediately.
In a bottle on the bottom of the ocean no one can hear you complain. I say leave Jean there for a while then maybe she will be less self centered when she is free’ed.
So that’s why Araceli hated her bottle so much! Figures that Jean won’t have any help.
Hopefully she’ll get a new master soon 🙁

CD Rudd — shouldn’t you change out Banner-Jean’s costume from pink to blue?
That would fit. Please change the Banner.
I believe Araceli is now in the banner taking Jeanie’s place
That’s an evil thought.
Heh. Sometimes some places look better than others…
hahaha xD
Poor Jean
Anyone for a quick chorus of “Octopus’ Garden” or “Yellow Submarine?”

More likely he will just kick and punch the walls, and have the bottle get free from the wreckage unintentionally.
More likely Jean will start with using magic to get him/herself out of there. If that fails, I see lots of swearing, while trying to break the bottle open by either magic or physically hitting. Thou the question is while anyone hear him, and who will be the threats to?
So that’s where Araceli’s bottle was. I can see why she liked Jean’s better. XD

I thought her bottle would be floating, comic 89 shows it bobbing at the surface.

She’ll figure out a way to get out of this.
It could be worse, it could be an old rum bottle.
R.I.P. astronaut / oil billionaire guy.
(That would be two of my wishes.)
Larry Hagman, 81. Cancer. RIP.
