As I’m sure you can tell, today’s page of Hachimitsu’s filler comic is a little… different. He went to a Herculean effort to get this out on time for New Years, so I hope you guys like it!
EDIT: CD Rudd showed me how to post a Youtube video as the actual comic for the page, so I’ve uploaded this video to there and embedded it. It should now work on all devices. *fingers crossed*

So she is in Dubai?
I don’t think the background is supposed to imply anything except a New Years fireworks celebration.But you’d have to ask Hachimitsu to get a certain answer.EDIT: Turns out I was wrong.
It looks more like Dubai than New York.
That’s definitely the Burj Khalifa in the background.
It is a very noticeable and unique landmark, if she wasn’t supposed to be somewhere specific, why include something that unique?
That’s Dubai, unless the Burj Khalifa is someplace else in the Jeanieverse. Looks to me like an appropriate venue for a genie in a barely-there harem costume. Possible first line: “We meet again, Agent Anderson.”

Artist note:
That genie tail costed me more time to animate by hand then the entire woman itself. I have less than 3 days to make this complete with a illness and a Fever. I wanted to make it special and I wanted it to be released on the new year.
did ya know that if you flip the 8 it means infinity ^ ^!?.. it’s a special number and to make it arrive in the new year means alot to me! Please enjoy this because i had only 2 hours of sleep within 3 days!
Processing this into an animation is Very tedious work.
note: if your wondering about the particle effects, because video-copilot is disabled and unable to registered, I had to use various youtube clips that is free to use to create these using many variable blends!
Final thoughts::
I really love how this look and I already made a second alternative version since She and her are the first two to be made!.

I wanted to mark this with a bang. I put a lot of hard work for this artwork to being made. Originally i wanted to animate the entire website to look like it pops out. Sadly the computer Malfunction due to Rolling blackouts in my neighbourhood that I lost 90% of my works, and this too is during backing up a file when the third blackout happened. CLoud became corrupted because it was also submitting files in)
8 is my most favourite number because it can become an infinity when you shift it!
Also i wanted to make a huge impression of an awakening upon released ( Reverse djinnification?)
In terms of storytelling..
Yes the person who bought the bottle DID arrived at UAE, Dubai. There is a huge reason, but for that you have to wait.

Ok, I will be honest, I got to see some teases here and there as to what Hatch has been working up for his comic, but this one has surpassed my expectatives! This is an amazing work and a great way to receive the new year! Really looking forward for your next pages Hatch!

Why can’t I get the video to work?
I will be happy to make one in a gif form but this was will reduce the quality severely and raise the image’s MB usage.. I Tried so hard to get this done ;_;

Yeah, it doesn’t work on my phone, either. I really have no idea why. It’s just a webm video playing with an HTML5 video player. Maybe iOS doesn’t like webm?

You know, you could have linked us to the video and uploaded it to the Media folder or something. Add a snapshot of it, say view video below and have us click. Of course that Is a problem when you’re depressed with the comic press 😛
Linking to the video would have much less impact than seeing the video right there on the page, though. Once this page is no longer the frontpage content, I’ll be changing it to a link in the description, but for now, I think this is the best solution.
well, yeah, youre right it’s better this way. but I could have sworn comicpress could handle videos…hmm guess google cant help. What a huge limit. I wonder if comic easel has that limit
Turns out ComicPress CAN handle videos, but they have to be embeds from a major video platform, and they’re done through a whole different element of the Comic editing UI that I’d never used before.
Now that I’ve uploaded the video to YouTube, and attached it to that UI widget, it’s working great.
Video won’t load for me. If it’s a video can’t it be found in like YouTube or something?
