		<description><![CDATA[The difference is so subtle as to be almost non-existant.  I think persuade implies action or argument by one person to convince another of something.  While a person might be convinced of something without another person&#039;s action or argument.  For example, a person might be convinced that the sun rises every morning just from observation.  On the other hand, a salesman may persuade someone that his product is better than another.]]></description>

And, for the record, I have been speaking English since I learned to talk. I have also read a large variety of works, none of which has used &quot;convince&quot; in the way you allege is correct.
