Jeanie Bottle 493
Oh man, sounds like Jeanie’s going to have to make nice with Neil. But is she even capable of that (without screwing up)?
And what’s Big Blue’s take on this problem? This could turn out to be be rather… complicated.

Jeanie probably doesn’t see much of a problem.
Yeah…She’s hosed.
So I wonder what Neil will think of these turn of events?
does neil even know about this
Not yet.
to Asha, where do you want me to start? A-Z, number order, or time and date?
Neil was happier as Natalie, so just turn him back into Natalie. Problem solved.
I’m OK with this.
Feel very much the same way
He was only happier when the Blue Djinn had drugged up his brain chemistry. The rest of the time, as Natalie, he was mostly frustrated, pissed off or humiliated. So that doesn’t appear to be a solution.
Well, honestly, when has Neil being happy in the whole story? Maybe pleased when something goes right for about half a page before Jeanie ruins the moment, but happy? Not so much, at least we see Natalie smile in Vegas once and we now she enjoys TV Dramas, so thats something.
It’s true. 90% of the time Neil is just sort of there, waiting for Jeanie’s next abuse. At least when Natalie appears, sparks fly whether she’s happy about it or not.
Exactly. Just turn Neil into Natalie again in that way and problem solved.
I don’t think he was unhappy except for the times Jeanie changed him to punish him. He has spent a lot of time as Nat by his own choice. Sadly of all the characters Neil has had the least development. So it is hard to say how he feels about his alter ego.
Make wander what Asha angle is. Is she here for humanitarian reason to help Jeanie or does she have some dark sinister and ulterior motives or something. She may just not like Guano and doesn’t like the way that he does things and such.
We know how Jeanie thinks, this may cause her to do something drastic that she would not do normally. We will just have wait and see. But, there a hint that something brewing here.
Odds are good Jean will do something desperate and ill-considered. We can only hope it blows up in her face, rather than Neil’s.
She might just want to help Guano.
I guess that means that Jeanie is not going to see the light of day for the next couple thousand years, huh.
This update makes me very, very happy… so far. 🙂
Boy, talk about a loaded question…
What happens next depends on the answers to two interrelated questions:
1) How much does Jeannie know of what went on with her body, while the Blue Djinn was in control?
2) How aware is the Blue Djinn of what Jeannie does, when he’s not controlling her?
From the story this far, it appears that neither Jeanie nor the BD is completely cognizant of what is happening when the other is in command, making it a bit like having multiple independent personalities. But there may also be info that sort of leaks over, and it seems like the BD is a sharp cookie, so he may be at least filling in the blanks.
The timing of all this to coincide with Haji’s day seems suspicious. I have to winder if that’s part of the BD’s plan.
The Irony of this is that either one on their own would end up annoying and/or pissing off Neil enough to send Jean(ie) to Haji on their own, it’s just the way’s in which each would go about doing so in such vastly different ways, that’s it’s POSSIBLE that the inherent bipolar nature of how Jean(ie) appears to be acting would tip Neil off.
For example Jean(ie) would try to seduce Neil and make nice so to speak. This goes poorly enough under normal circumstances. This hapening right after what just happened would seem like a horriblely inapprobiate attempt to get on his good side.
BD tends to imitate Jean(ie’s) jackass behavior, but he ramps it up to levels of cruelty and maliciousness the the real Jean(ie) would never be comfortable.
If at this point in the story Neil were to see JUST ONE of these things coming from his geanie it would definitely be sent to haji and the BD is golden. The problem is if Neal sees Jean(ie) flip-floping BETWEEN the two approches. That is a level of weirdness not even seen in Jean(ie) that is bound to tip him of.
In short. We are heading for a train wreck and I cannot wait to see it.
Neil is a very perceptive person when it come to Jean or now Jeanie, because he known Jean/Jeanie for seven years or more. He knows the ins and outs of Jeanie and when ever she acts out of character for the way Jeanie suppose to act, Neil will know it.
when Araceli tried to masquerade Jeanie Neil knew it and the Blue Djinn won’t be able to fool him either. The only thing in question is: What will be Neil response when he see them changing back and forth.
I get the feeling that BD has at least some awareness even when he’s not in direct control. I base this on how Jeanie reacted to Jehane’s banishment. She was clearly happy about it, but the real Jeanie would have no reason to be that way, and she didn’t have blue irises at the time, so BD wasn’t in total control, either.
That seems like a logical hypothesis. I guess time (and CD) will tell for sure.
@Robert, I agree with your theory, mostly on the fact that Jeanie and Blue seem to be able to have chats between them when Jeanie is in control, so he is aware of the situation, contrary to Jeanie when he is in control, as seen in how blue “laments” the fact that she cannot see his plan, but just to be clear, Blue was the one in control when Jehane was banished, look closer at Jeanie’s eyes on page 477
Oh shoot, you’re right. I forgot that 477 *was* one of the pages where Jeanie got the blue irises.
“Me and Neil? We’re like this!” *Crosses fingers*
Thing is blue likely wants to get close to Haji in order to end his existence. It would be easier to dispatch genies without their king. I think blue will do everything possible to get kicked up for a meeting with the boss
Wouldn’t it be great if Jean asks Asha to define “recently” . . . this is gonna be good.
So if they don’t please their masters it’s the bottle for them. If they don’t put out, they don’t get out.
What she saying is: Traditionally a Genie stays in there bottle until the next person picks up the bottle to open it and then became his or her new master. After there finished taking care of there masters business, they go back to the bottle waiting for a new person to pick up the bottle and become there new master.
When Jeanie finishes doing Neil business, it to the bottle for Jeanie to wait for her new master.
To an extent. I think the real lesson is don’t let your master be in any position to fire you on Haji’s day. Twist all three wishes and leave. Genies have the real power.
Then again banishment might not be that bad
Jean doesn’t have to worry. If Neil hasn’t stoppered her bottle and thrown it into the ocean on his own by now then he isn’t going to agree on letting Guano do it. Neil is like one of those hostages who has started working for their kidnapper.
I dunno, this latest thing with the mental hormones has almost certainly pissed Neil off quite a lot. Not to mention that it’s screwed up his friendship with Rodge, too. I’d say that Jeanie and Neil’s relationship is on the thinnest ice it’s ever be on at the moment.
Robert, based on Neil’s behavior at the office with Roger, I’m not sure of just how much HE remembers of what transpired while Jeannie was AWOL. It’s entirely possible that after the Blue Meanie undid the brain-chemistry-whatsis, that Neil only has some vague memory of being Nat-ified, with no specifics. He seems more puzzled than anything else, and apparently Rodge hasn’t clued him in as to the details.
He also goes out of his way not to treat Neil like a slave.
I’m no expert in English, but I have a feeling that there should be ‘than’ instead of ‘then’ in the second bubble of the second frame.
Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ll fix it.
You missed coloring a finger in the last panel.
You know if he colored the spoon, it would look like she had six fingers.
Ah, see, I thought that at first, too. But Bthillman’s right: that’s Asha’s spoon.
guess all the reason for master to be mad at Jean is in the TG fan art you posted.
Hah, now that would be a fun way to break the forth wall. Neil complaining to CD and I about the embarrassing pics of Natalie that we’ve posted. hehehe
