Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
If it was Neil, then either he’d recognize Jean or there would be a specific reason for him not to. However, since Jean is waiting tables at the Boar’s Nest, there’s a better-than-even chance that she will meet Daisy before Neil or Daisy’s brothers-turned-sisters catch up to them.
And as for Jean being willing to wait tables, she did say she’d do “anything” to stay out of the bottle, and it does let her get away from Hogg’s presence while she’s there–and we know that she seriously does NOT like him., so it’s better than having to be his “attendant” while waiting for Hogg to make his remaining wishes.
Yeah, considering all the things that Hogg could have made her do, waiting tables in a sexy outfit (something we know Jeanie isn’t averse to wearing by choice) is downright pleasant.
Well, Boss apparently knows how to conserve wishes by using extortion, no surprise there. Though I’m guessing if Jeannie had to use magic to do what he wants it would count as a wish anyway. Working as a waitress, no magic needed, they probably already had the outfit.
Besides, half the point of the show is that the south is the home of the last gentlemen. Daisy might’ve worn her Daisy Dukes, but the show had lines they never crossed and that outfit was about as bad as it got (leaving aside the questionable values of the decade). And I don’t find the outfit particularly objectionable.
Granted, people have been disputing the idea of “the south as the home of the last gentlemen” since Mark Twain, but it’s how they see themselves. By the show’s logic, wearing a revealing outfit is the worst Jeanie can expect.
Costume aside, I love the idea of Jeanie actually having to serve people. It’ll be good for her.
She’s played with sexy costumes before, but now she has to wear a very sexy costume, publicly, within groping distance, and be polite to her customers. (I hope Hogg at least lets her keep her tips!)

I’m extremely disturbed by the idea that a genie can be kidnapped and enslaved by having her totem stolen from her chosen master, and then threatened with imprisonment in the totem.
According to CD’s Information page, “After a Genie has been locked up/contained for a full moon, the Genie no longer belongs to their master. Whoever releases them will become their new master.”
But what if the totem is still in the possession of the kidnapper? Does it free itself somehow?
Can the kidnapper again the release the genie, and again become the master?
It seems to me that Hogg cannot be the first person to try this little scam. How have other genies dealt with it? Is it in the manual?
===
When Neil reacquires the bottle, and Jeanie, I hope that she clings to him as fervently as she clung to Hogg while stupidly begging not to be sealed in the bottle.
I hope she she declares him her chosen Master, realizing how much better he is than Hogg.
Again from the Information page: “if the master allows it, a Genie may choose to stay with him or her for as long as the master lives. If a Genie so chooses, they become bound to that master for as long as the master desires them. ”
This sounds like it would protect Jeanie from further kidnapping attempts.
But: “Genies naturally wish to serve a master. ”
This is what Jeanie has been avoiding. She doesn’t want to serve anybody. But I think she’s fighting the Genie Nature on this point.
For all this to work, though, Neil must decide to become Jeanie’s master. (I’ve mentioned this before.) He definitely deserves a major Jeanie scolding for losing her bottle. As her master, he is responsible for safeguarding it, and thus her.
Yes, the Genie totem can be stolen, that why it a good idea to keep it a secrete that you have a Genie. That why it Neil fault that he lost the totem, he was acting too suspicious with it that he called attention to it by Rosco and Boss Hogg in the first place.
Yes, Jeanie is obligated to give Boss Hogg three wishes. There is a debate on whither or not that Jeanie has to give Boss Hogg any more than three separate before she can leaving him.
Being under Boss Hogg authority will force Jeanie into a Master/Slave or Genie relationship whither or not she like it and she not going to like. Whither or not Jeanie continues to act in a Master/Genie relationship with Neil after Neil get her back, who know. Jeanie will be Jeanie and she may revert back to her old ways after Neil get her back.
Love your work and the Dukes of Hazard theme, along with I dream of Jeannie and Bewitched one of my all time favorite series… Not to be critical but shouldn’t Jeannie’s ponytail be coming out of the top of her hat?
Great picture. I wonder if the differences in Jean’s outfit are because he didn’t remember Jeannie EXACTLY when the image of her came to his mind just before he was transformed.
One other difference between Jeanie and Jean is that Jeanie’s headdress disappeared when she changed to other clothes. Jean always has to wear that little cap.
I also wonder how Lord Guano is going to react when/if he learns about this period of Jean’s subservience with Boss Hogg.
Lord Guano would not blame Genie for what going on in Hazzard County. It was Neil that lost the Totem or the Bottle, that was out of Jean power to do anything about it. It is Boss Hogg that are making the request as the new Master and so Jean has a limited ability to stop him.
Most of the stuff going on now wasn’t started with Jean doing something, but by someone else using her power ulterior motive or for there own purposes.
Jeanie wearing Daisy Dukes? Nice! Can’t wait to see what happens to her next….
Face it. We all knew that would happen eventually
I figure all the Dukes will wind up wearing Daisy Dukes…
Can’t wait to see what Bo and Luke look like in their Daisy Dukes.
In the meantime, Neil looks like he’s ordering TWO beers. Who’s the second one for? One of the new Duke girls?
Also, I suspect that Boss Hogg’s plan is going to be even dumber that Jean’s usually are.
Maybe he’s going to get a REALLY bad orange wig and run for President.
That’s not Neil.

Isn’t Daisy their cousin? It’s been a long time since I watched that show.
Yep, all the Dukes are cousins. (Except for Uncle Jesse)
Ah yes, the South – Where your Mom and your cousin can be the same thing. 😉
Will Boss Hogg weasel unlimited not-quite-wishes out of Jeannie
by threatening to bottle her?
Make her conjure up the beer he sells?
Well, Boss apparently knows how to conserve wishes by using extortion, no surprise there. Though I’m guessing if Jeannie had to use magic to do what he wants it would count as a wish anyway. Working as a waitress, no magic needed, they probably already had the outfit.
Be wary, Rosco. He’ll discard you just as easily as whoever lettered this comic discarded your final “e”…
Look it up. Rosco’s name doesn’t have an “e” on the end in the show.
Jeanie is going to become very nimble. She is now receiving pinching fingers and groping hands avoidance training.
I dunno… Considering how much autonomy Jeanie has with her magic, it might be a very bad idea to grope her.
Besides, half the point of the show is that the south is the home of the last gentlemen. Bless Boss Hogg for making Jeanie a waitress!

Remember, Jean is NOT the same as Jeannie from the TV show.
Fair enough, thanks for the reply and nice rendering of the comparison of the two by the way. keep up the great work.

I’ve never noticed Lord Guano to be particularly reasonable about who he blames for things. Or logical, for that matter.
