Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Wow! It looks like a gunfight from an old western. I wonder if Sam will give Jean til sundown to get out of town! Good storyline I can’t wait until next week to see what happens next!
So many possibilities . . . What does Jean do next? Poof herself and Neil away, and if so where to? She might not want to go to their apartment because she thinks Sam is a genie who would know where she lives, but then Jean isn’t very good at thinking things through. Or, does she turn and face the “genie spy” and tell her to buzz off and tell Guano to stuff it? That’s just the first two things I can think of, but there are so many more . . .
Ah, but are witches equally powerful in the magical arts, compared to genies? Jean might be significantly less skilled, but have more brute magical power.
Yes Jean may have phenomenal cosmic powers but she is limited by a very restrictive book of rules, which she probably still has not read, and she is a one trick pony. Sam is female with hundreds of years of experience playing rough with other immortals .
They’ll be the ones on the sidelines eating the popcorn! They have no problem with each other. They can trade stories about stupid young genies and witches!!
The question to always ask oneself is “How many ways can this go wrong?” Apparently, despite everything else, neither Jean nor Sam seem to have mastered this primary problem preventative – yet.
& yes, for our amusement, I hope that they never do.
I can’t pick fairly on who to vouch for… Wait I know!
One. Two. Three!
*Flips his lucky coin, landing on its side*
Well then… There is a wishbone in the fridge I’ll go use that.
It is just me, or have Neil and Jeannie been standing really close to one another throughout this whole storyline? They are practically holding hands in this one. I did some random jumping to earlier storylines, and it seems to be a new development.
While I am here, I just have to praise CD on his cartooning skill. Just in the time you have been doing this comic, you have really grown a lot. Your characters really convey a lot of emotion. While the storyline is funny, the art raises it to hilarity.
I agree, on all counts. Neil and Jeanie are usually up close and next to each other, not like a couple of guys who pal around together.
And CD’s comic strip? You see my face popping up all over the comments because I’m enjoying it so much! And his artwork is simple, the way it should be, yet it really gets the job done. The character and the emotions are very evident due to the writing and the artwork. This has become my favorite comic!
I’ve been saying since nearly the start Jeanie is becoming more and more female, definately hints her transformation is more than just physical but then her strain of genie is a nurturing one.
I’m hoping less fighting (although a TGd derick may be nice give him a reason for his “don’t use magic” or was that Neil? And more switching places with jean identifying with overvearing authority figures and trying (and failing) to give Sam some time alone with her husband.
I agree as well, CD ‘s artwork has definitely evolved to the next level. I will even go one better. His storylines have always been great, but I think they are getting better too (I still chuckle when I think of McGuyver in the last storyline).
Actually, I’m not expecting much of a fight. If they can refrain from poofing each other into oblivion until they can get the facts straight, collateral damage may be minimal. Then again, there are those readers who are making bets on who’s more powerful. Oh well!
Who get tg’d, Neil or Derick?
We’ve already seen Neil get TG’d a lot, but Derrek doesn’t seem to have experienced his own female side yet, so I’d like to see his reactions.
Hmmm, I am super fond of Natalie, but seeing some Deidra would be nice. Or maybe Diana? Danicka?
D’rika?
I wonder what Derick and Neil are going to talk about.
Dear Christ, I can just see a page where they are talking in the back ground while the other two battle.
hopefully this battle will involve swimsuits and jello >.>
Oh this’ll be good. *grabs the popcorn*
And now we have ourselves a good ol’ binary misunderstanding. Let the games begin. *orders an XL popcorn*
All those poor people that are now in the crossfire. Magical collateral damage is going to suck.
Let the battle of the misunderstanding begin.
forgot the s at the end of misunderstandings
It’s okay, I misunderstood you. 😉
😛
Genie VS Witch….FIGHT!
Wow! It looks like a gunfight from an old western. I wonder if Sam will give Jean til sundown to get out of town! Good storyline I can’t wait until next week to see what happens next!
Jeanie and Samantha speaking simultaneously in stereo:
“Are you spying on me?”
“What?”
“You are!”
“Stop saying what I’m saying!”
So many possibilities . . . What does Jean do next? Poof herself and Neil away, and if so where to? She might not want to go to their apartment because she thinks Sam is a genie who would know where she lives, but then Jean isn’t very good at thinking things through. Could Jeanie be “spellbound”? (‘Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)
Spellbound is a transgender story about a witch who turns men into women in the end she gets turned into a man.
I didn’t know that, but the parallels here are interesting!
In a magic fight experience counts: The “Sam” I remember had been a witch for hundreds of years. Jean is just a rookie in the ways of magic.
Ah, but are witches equally powerful in the magical arts, compared to genies? Jean might be significantly less skilled, but have more brute magical power.
In contemplating a Samantha vs Jeannie battle, I’ve always considered this: In The Koran, the djinn are ranked just below angels in terms of power.
Yes Jean may have phenomenal cosmic powers but she is limited by a very restrictive book of rules, which she probably still has not read, and she is a one trick pony. Sam is female with hundreds of years of experience playing rough with other immortals .
What do you think might happen if Guano and Sam’s mother get involved in the conflict?
They’ll be the ones on the sidelines eating the popcorn! They have no problem with each other. They can trade stories about stupid young genies and witches!!

And just when it looks like things are going to wind down, in strolls some newspaper reporter with a Martian uncle.
I think you mean, ‘…in strolls some engineer grad student with his Goddess girlfriend.’ to bring it full circle.
I can’t pick fairly on who to vouch for… Wait I know!

Can we skip to AFTER the fight? This misunderstanding fights are painful to watch and only funny after the fact.
Actually, I’m not expecting much of a fight. If they can refrain from poofing each other into oblivion until they can get the facts straight, collateral damage may be minimal. Then again, there are those readers who are making bets on who’s more powerful. Oh well!
There appears to be enough misunderstanding in this grudge sunken dispute.
FIGHT!
