Strange Duo 3
Well this looks like it’ll be an interesting show! And it’s right up Neil’s alley, too.
By the way, the cavalcade of screwups I’ve been making on these filler comics from Crazy Cow continues… There was a color version of Page 2 that I completely forgot he sent to me. I’ve updated last week’s post with that version, so be sure to check it out! 🙂
EDIT: Thanks go to Frith Ra for the copy edited version of this page.
Well Anderson is going to have some help magic never goes wrong
Well the “help” might only be on the TV show that Neil is watching.
We don’t know if it will leak back into Agent Anderson’s off-screen life.
Robert, are you editing these pages?
I’m guessing not. Since a) the panels are hand-lettered, and therefore difficult to edit, and b) Robert has an excellent command of spelling & grammar.
Nope, my expertise with photoshop editing doesn’t extend to editing hard-written lettering in any wya that would look remotely decent.
I … could…, but it would require a bit more time than the next expected update, and much use of the “stamp” feature.
The replacement letters could be cut from other places in the text. That would speed things up. Should I try it? And if so how would you like it sent back to you?
Okay, that took less time than I thought. You have my e-mail through this, contact me & I can send it to you.
Hmm, actually… I don’t think I have access to your email. The system only uses it to get your Gravatar, after which it doesn’t appear to actually save it. Mine’s coredumperror@gmail.com, though. Feel free to email me.
I take it he’s can’t undo Agent Anderson’s spell.
Probably not (according to Kazom). But then, she hasn’t asked him to, either.
Ok, so Anderson can command him 1,001 times (999 remaining), and he is bound to obey any command that isn’t against the rules. Since they aren’t “wishes”, then probably Anderson can’t ask for anything too reality-bending (e.g. asking to be made 100% male again). However, given the set-up, things such as “teleport us immediately to location X so that our quarry doesn’t have time to get away” or “detain that person running over there so that I can arrest him” would be likely. Anderson now has to learn to speak to Vayne in a manner that won’t lead to being misinterpreted as a command that would decrement the count of tasks remaining.
Those are some good ideas!
He might not be able to do teleports either.
Maybe, maybe not. The idea though is that he will be able to help Anderson in her work in a useful way while not being able to do big flashy spectacular stuff. I am drawing inspiration from the show “The Greatest American Hero”, where Ralph uses the super suit’s powers to work together with FBI agent Bill Maxwell.
From the description of the things that this Genie can do and it seem to exclude magic use, but, it 1,001 things that the Genie does.
The Genie is acting more like a Glorified butler or house maid. The Genie does the 1,001 things for Agent Anderson and on the one thousand and first item that Agent Anderson ask the Genie to do, then the Genie free from that point on.
The Genie is a Glorified gofer: Go for this Genie and now go for that Genie.
The spell name is cute.
“RELLIF” = “FILLER”, backwards.
Hah, I completely missed that!
Missed “where” when it should be “we’re,” too…
@Robert Nowall: That was one of the things that convinced me that Robert hadn’t copy-edited the page. He never would have missed something that obvious.
Efreeti is going to show up in the main story in the future or is he filler only?
Vayne is filler only. He’s an original creation of CrazyCowProductions.
I don’t understand the part about the “Rellif” spell, he seems to start explaining it out of nowhere. Is he explaining what Aracely did?
I’m not entirely sure either. Though as another commenter pointed out, “rellif” is “filler” backwards, so it’s probably just a small fourth wall break.
It’s exposition. He’s explaining to Agent Anderson that she’s in the middle of a spell, (cast by Araceli) and after it ends, she conveniently won’t remember anything. Thus anything these characters do won’t affect anything in the rest of the comic.
It’s kind of unnecessary, but Crazy Cow probably wanted to account for how this could happen and still be non-canon.
Very much so, sadly Deslexia (not sure I spelled that right) gets in the way of a lot of my writing in comics or for stories. Mostly due to me learning to read by “picture”. Namely I recognize words like a picture not by spelling so my proof reading kinda sucks
So does he use magic or does he just avoid it like if you say get me a cheese burger does he poof it or go and buy or even steal one from a person? Cause he seem he doesn’t really care about anyone. Also love to see Robert made it back home from Africa hopefully he wont have a long hospital stay.
I believe these questions will be mostly answered in the upcoming pages.
